Lisa Marx

Shihan, Teacher of Teachers

When mother of three Lisa Marx, took up the martial arts for fitness in 1998, inspired by her younger sister who had already achieved her Black Belt at Richard Marlin’s Success Martial Arts, little did she know that she would ultimately earn her Black Belt, become a martial arts teacher and have a fulfilling career in the arts. That path has led her to achievements she never thought possible.

Lisa was so impressed by the confidence and fitness she quickly gained that she decided she wanted to make teaching the martial arts her job and her career.

Lisa Marx is now a 5th Degree Black Belt and a ‘Shihan,” which means an expert or senior teacher.

She is the fulltime Program Director at Success Martial Arts.

Move forward to 2009, and Lisa is honoured with a ‘Most Inspiring Instructor’ award by the international martial arts group EFC.

She loves teaching Karate. She is a role model and an inspiration for her students.

She regularly teaches free workshops to help other women overcome the fears that hold them back, keeping them from their goals and their dreams.

“When I started at Success Martial Arts 3 days after my 30th birthday I weighed 11 Kilos more than I weigh now. I had been in Lismore for three years and had not made any friends. I felt overwhelmed with three children and no time for myself. I have a lot more confidence in all aspects of my life now, and I know I can do much more than I ever thought I could. Teaching Karate is a way for me to help other women, men and children get the satisfaction that I got. It’s very exciting.”
